Private MitID is being phased out as teacher login for Unilogin – SkoleElev.ai offers secure access and unified school administration

STIL has announced that staff will lose the option to log in via Unilogin with private MitID without a business identity. SkoleElev.ai brings secure access, user administration and teaching together in one solution and offers, among other things, login with the school's Microsoft or Google accounts. This can reduce schools' need for MitID Erhverv solely for the learning platform, along with the associated costs and administration.

The Danish Agency for IT and Learning (STIL) has announced that staff's option to log in via Unilogin with private MitID without an associated business identity will end. Affected schools must therefore prepare the transition to MitID Erhverv or local login.

SkoleElev.ai offers a solution that combines secure access with the school's administration and teaching. Staff can log in to the platform with the school's Microsoft or Google account via single sign-on, or with username and password combined with an authenticator app for two-factor verification.

This lets schools limit the need to create staff in MitID Erhverv solely to give access to the learning platform – saving the associated setup costs and administration.

The school decides who may log in and how

The school chooses which login methods to approve and can restrict options by staff role. For example, the school can require school leaders to always log in with MitID Erhverv, while other staff use Microsoft, Google or username and password with two-factor verification.

The school can thereby set a shared login policy with different requirements for different user groups, building on the accounts staff already use in their work.

From student enrolment to everyday teaching

SkoleElev.ai covers creation and administration of both students and staff. The school can manage users' journey from creation through ongoing changes to unenrolment or departure in the same solution teachers and students use for teaching.

The solution includes automatic synchronisation with STIL of creations, changes and departures, as well as handling of the reports covered by the school's integration. The aim is to reduce duplicate work and connect the school's user data, administration and learning environment.

"A new student must both be registered administratively and be able to start learning. A new employee must have the right access, and that access must be removed again on departure. Shared user management across the school's platforms

SkoleElev.ai also offers to act as the school's identity provider and identity management solution (IdP and IDM). This lets the school's shared user management and login extend to other connected platforms.

Access to external services depends on their integrations and security requirements. Use as local login through Unilogin requires that STIL's connection requirements are met.
